Too Close to the Flame chronicles the lives of the men and women on death row in the South since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated the death penalty in 1976. The book provides a keyhole to view the personal dynamics of individuals caught in the killing machine. The perspective is provided by Rev. Ingle, who has spent 45 years working with the condemned in the South. Ingle, a native of North Carolina and a graduate of Union Theological Seminary, has spent his adult life in prisons, legislatures, governors’ offices and mansions, all in an effort to end the death penalty.  The reality of racial and class discrimination is brought home through the stories of the individuals in this work.

Books will be available for purchase at $28 each by cash, checks, or Venmo.
